Sustainable Solutions in Action
At the Little Free Pantry, we make sure food never goes to waste. Produce that isn’t suitable for people, like wilted lettuce, peppers that get bumped during transportation, or stale bread, finds a second life with our animal friends and local farm partners. Anything that cannot be shared with animals is sent to a worm farm or composted at neighboring farms. By working this way, we reduce waste, support local agriculture, and turn scraps into something valuable for our community.
Every item a purpose, even if our camera-shy oxen friend here can’t enjoy it! We love getting creative to ensure that nothing goes to waste Just check out these fantastic examples from the past few years: -
Cardboard- Donated Crossroads House for event storage!
Stained clothing - Transformed cozy hammocks and bedding for rescued squirrels at a Rehabilitation facility!
Yarn- Crafted into delightful gloves, shared during Christmas cheer!
Plastic containers- Reused by farmers to kickstart their seeds!
These are just a glimpse of how we give items a second life! Our mission is all about providing resources for families in need while reducing waste in our community. Together, we're creating a way to support people, animals, and our environment!
